Talk on Monsoon Diseases 2024

On Monday, August 5, 2024, a team of doctors from the AB Ward visited our school to discuss the increase in mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue during the monsoon season. They emphasized the importance of keeping our surroundings clean to prevent mosquito breeding, particularly in areas where fresh water stagnates. The doctors recommended adopting a “dry day” practice, which involves cleaning and drying all water containers before refilling them to break the mosquito breeding cycle. They also advised regular cleaning and insecticide spraying.

The doctors stressed the importance of immediate medical consultation and necessary blood tests in case of fever for early detection of diseases like malaria and dengue. Additionally, they provided preventive measures for waterborne diseases, such as drinking boiled or purified water and maintaining good personal hygiene. For airborne diseases like the common cold and flu, they recommended ensuring good ventilation, wearing masks, and practicing respiratory hygiene. The visit highlighted the need for proactive measures to protect ourselves from monsoon diseases by maintaining cleanliness and seeking timely medical attention.
